Tsarevo, Bulgaria
Tsarevo, lying at the foot of the mountain Strandja is ideal for romantic souls. It offers relaxation by the sea, nature or history. It is situated on two peninsulas projecting into the Black Sea, where are beautiful coves with beaches. This fishing town and port with about 6.000 inhabitants, is also the spa resort (climatic spa).
The name of the summer resort has often changed. There was a Greek colony Vasiliko in ancient times. The town was after that renamed on Tsarevo in honour of Tsar Boris III.. In 1948 the name was changed on Micurin – according to famous botanist (thanks to kindly climate there are stations for southern growing plants). Under this name is resort known to many visitors, although since 1991, has officially returned to the name Tsarevo.
Tsarevo is a nice and very well kept holiday destination with many cultural and natural enjoyments. The centre has a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, and unlike the surrounding towns has urban style.
Definitely worth making is a trip to the mountain Strandja, which was declared a national park in 1995. It is one of the least discovered areas of Bulgaria and abounds many species of wild animals (lynx, coyote, wolf, eagle, hawk, turtle, …) Mountain range is suitable for exploring for example caves, karst formations, the remains of ancient Thracian civilization, but also mushrooming. Very interesting are the mountain villages with the original architecture, where residents still keep the old customs – such as walking on hot coals (nestinastvo).
Tsarevo was a popular place for the Bulgarian royal family and has become a popular place for some Czech celebrities. Moreover, Tsarevo enjoys growing favour of tourists and is the optimal place to spend your easygoing vacation
